Sally's new haircut

Thanksgiving

Sally and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving here in Michigan. Most of my family and friends met at Joe Kaplan's house, he is a very good friend of my sister Jane, a very gracious host and has a beautiful home on the Rouge river. The weather was sunny and crisp...perfect. The pictures are from that day.

I am still busy with my art work at Wayne State and have many opportunities to meet the artists and see their work. I have a small studio at Wayne and love to putter in it. Some paintings are good and some so so, mostly it is a luxury to be able to create full time and express whatever I want to create. Thinking of spending next summer in Italy with my drawing board...such freedom.

Rowing on the river

For the first time I took a double boat out on the river last evening. I couldn't help but let out a loud "eeeah". I am free, halleluiah!

Rowing on the river

I have been rowing with a crew all summer. What an experience for me. Our team had a picture made last week and I hope to post it. We row on the Detroit river from the old boat club on Belle Isle. It is remarkably beautiful when we row in the early morning and evening and I feel very fortunate that I am getting to some of the things I enjoy so very much.

After rowing, I go to my studio at Wayne State and have been really thowing that paint around, since classes are out for the summer and I can paint without a critic. One of my last is very appalling and frightening to look at, I call it REQUIEM. Don't know if I will ever show it, but the painting was very cathartic for me.

A month in Spain summer 2006

These are some pictures from Sally's and my trip to Spain. We ate lots of tapas, olive oil and great cheese. It was the best trip I have ever taken, in part because I had a month to relax, read, observe and meet the locals. Most of our trip was in Adalucia, where we stayed in a charming village in a very old farm house in the middle of olive groves. Barcelona is a fabulous city filled with art, music and old world charm. In both Bacelona and Madrid we rented apartments that once were very grand homes.
